Injuries are a leading killer of youth

Injuries affect all age groups but have a particular impact on young people. For people between the ages of 5 and 44 years, injuries are one of the top three causes of death.

Two of the five leading causes of death in the age group 5 to 14 were due to injuries. In the age group 15 to 29, one of the five leading causes of death was due to injuries. In the age group 30 to 44, one of the five leading causes of death was due to injuries. In all other age groups, no injuries is ranked among the five leading causes of death.
