25 Apr 2012 (Wed)

The Health Care and Promotion Fund now invites funding applications for Non-Research Health Promotion Projects and Seed Funding Scheme. Application is open to non-profit-making organisations from all sectors, not limited to health care organisations.

Priority for funding is given to applications targeting underprivileged groups who are vulnerable to ill-health, and health promotion programmes carried out in primary care settings . To sustain the effects of health promotion interventions, multidisciplinary approaches and cross-sectoral collaborations engaging the community to create supportive environments and to empower individuals to take ownership of their health are keys to success. In addition, higher funding priorities will be accorded to the following thematic areas:

  • Tobacco control;
  • Lifestyle, nutrition and physical activity;
  • Mental well-being;
  • Injury prevention;
  • Reducing alcohol-related problems;
  • Promoting family doctor model of care; and
  • Empowering the community in the management of chronic diseases.

Non-Research Health Promotion Projects

Health promotion projects help people adopt healthier lifestyles by enhancing awareness, changing behaviour or creating an environment that supports good health practices.

Seed Funding Scheme

The purpose of the scheme is to facilitate mobilisation of local resources through building partnership among public, private and non-governmental organisations to promote health in the community. It offers non-recurrent funding opportunities to support development of innovative, effective and sustainable health promotion programmes in the community.

Applications will be assessed by the Health Care and Promotion Fund Committee and its sub-committee, namely the Promotion Sub-committee, which comprises health care professionals and experts, individuals closely involved in community affairs and Government representatives.

Guidance Notes and Application Form can be obtained from the following address or downloaded from the Secretariat’s website at http://www.fhb.gov.hk/grants . Completed application forms should be sent to the Research Fund Secretariat on or before 31 July 2012 .
